Turbo Jones is one of four planned trade paperbacks that will reprint the entirety of the adventures of the spaceship Wildcat and four of it's crew members as they search for a new world for the remnants of humanity to settle and rebuild again.
They find a world alright and it's a pretty weird place full of danger from various alien and natural threats as different races have evolved across different continents after a radiation storm left the lifeforms with lungs unable to cope with life at anything other than sea level. Talking of which the seas are full of storms and monsters that keep the continents isolated fro each other.
As the expeditions leader Turbo Jones soon discovers mixing with the natives is deadly. He gets involved in a long war between two races and has to lead one against the other using sort of dinosaur creatures.
These adventures appeared in the very short lived comic Wildcat which was fortnightly and printed on high quality paper. I've only ever managed to get the first two issues out of the 12 printed. There are also a Holiday and Winter Special. The comic as they do when not selling too well was merged in this case with The Eagle.
Aimed at slightly younger readers than 2000AD the strips are worth reading and the art is excellent. You'll love the aliens, bug eyed monsters and other weird happenings in these pages. Three other volumes are planned Loner, Kitten Magee and Joe Alien "further down the line according to Thargs editorial in today's 2000AD!
