Gerry Anderson: Fanzine & new and old audio releases

Like most people of my generation and others after us Gerry Anderson's shows were great viewing That have (mostly) stood the "test of time" and continue to be watched updated and written about by so many. Inevitably the genre has got it's own fanzine andersonic a copy of which finally found it's way into my hands.

andersonic is published approximately every six months and is a 44 page A5 sized magazine that contains Gerry Anderson goodness from cover to cover with interviews, in depth articles plus pictures of the various shows put out over the years. The original comic content (at least in this edition is restricted to the four pages of the cover and features a UFO story penned by Graeme Bassett with art from from Richard Farrell the editor.

I'm glad I picked up a copy of andersonic as it is is well worth a read but like Doctor Who Magazine is something I only want to dip into occasionally but  for those of you who are bigger fandersons than me this zine is for you!

In other news Space 1999 has had an update and is being rebooted with all new actors but not on the screen but on audio CD from the people that bring you the Doctor Who audio adventures. I have listened to it and and the jury is out as volume one only covers the origin. How further adventures pan out will depend on sales of this one and how good the future stories are.

I normally review audio adventures (along with books, music & politics) at my other blog: Howie's Corner.

Also available in audio form but as audio books rather than full cast adventures are adaptions of the three Captain Scarlett novels from back in the sixties. I have got the first one and it has some effects & actors thrown into the narrative.  It's actually quite good.
