Shaman Kane #7

The latest issue of David Broughton's self-published Shaman Kane is now available and has been well worth the wait. In the last couple of issues readers were treated to a bit of an epic which with the other issues (still available, see below) would make into a fine trade paperback if collected though such things are difficult for independent publishers.

This is a self contained story and as such makes a good jumping on point for new readers as with the introduction that Kane has been banished from the Shaman Order by travelling to the galactic rim he can continue the fight on his own terms.

However whilst in transit to Sigma 958 Kane muses about past adventures and this issue tells the reader of his encounter with Zombie pirates trying to free "Gore Nasty" a prisoner in transit. There's a traitor on board The Arcadia and a battle ensues with demonic entities consuming the living and possessing the dead.

The artwork and story are to the professional standards one would expect in 2000AD  which clearly influence this strip. Indeed David worked on Zarjaz the 2000AD fanzine. If you are a fan of that comic then Shaman Kane is definitely for you.

My only "criticism" of this title is that it doesn't come out enough but every edition is worth a read and all issues are still currently available.
