Lady Penelope #31 (1966)

The iconic Lady Penelope from Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds TV show. A fantastic series that followed on and further developed the puppetry mixed with real life hands for close ups that entertained not just us kids but our parents to!

Of course us boys had our own comic TV "1 that featured not just Thunderbirds but Stingray, Fireball XL5 and later Captain Scarlet. The girls whose comics often outsold the boys were given Lady Penelope which was actually quite good.

In addition to the obvious main feature, Parker got solo adventures as did Mariner from Stingray. The Man from U.N.C.L.E also appeared as did the Beverley Hillbillies and Bewitched. All great stuff that I liked reading but hid from me mates because it was a girls comic wasn't it! Don't want to be seen a "sissy" did I now? I have no idea if the kids use that word these days their language seems impenetrable to me these days.

These comics are now quite sought after and not cheap either as there are far less of them due to the fact that unlike boys girls didn't tend to keep them. Explains why some mums always threw comics out after a while.

Later on it transformed into a more mainstream girls comic/magazine but the early issues are quite collectable. Grab a couple while you can.
